Many Moons
In this story when all are trying to get the moon, there are many characters that can’t. The king has a daughter; Lenore. There is also the Royal Wizard, Royal Mathematician, and the Lord High Chamberlain. They are all called to by the king to get the moon, but they all say different things about the moon. They all say one thing in common though, the fact that they can't get the moon. There is also the Court Jester. He is the most important character because of one thing; he figures out how to get the moon for Lenore. The gold smith is the one who makes “the moon” as the princess described to the Court Jester. All the character’s roles help get the moon. The three wise men all describe the moon to what they think it is so the Court Jester asks the princess what she thinks the moon is made of and how far away it is. This helps the Court Jester get the moon.
These characters all play in an important role in the romantic story. There are mild conflicts scattered within the midst of the story. One is that the princess gets deeply ill. This worries the king and will get the princess anything he heart desires. Another conflict is that the princess wants the moon and the king will have to get it for his daughter. He calls all of his wise men, but none of them are able to help him with his problem. "What can I do for you, your Majesty?" the Court Jester said after he had been called into the room. "No one can do anything for me" the king said to the Court Jester after consulting everyone he could, but none could aid him with his problem. As the day wears on; the Court Jester figures out a way to acquire the moon for the princess. All of the wise men say what they think the moon is like, so the Court Jester asks the princess what she thinks the moon is like. She states that the moon is made of gold and is slightly smaller than her nail. At the end of this story the princess gets her moon and she solved her own problem of getting the moon.
Within this romantic story, many symbols tie together the story. One symbol is the Court Jester’s lute. It symbolizes the sadness in the kingdom when the princess is ill. It also shows how the king feels because he can’t get the moon for his daughter. Another symbol is the moon. It shows that some things, although they seem impossible, can be done with a little effort and determination. Another important symbol is the “moon” that the Court Jester made the gold smith make. It symbolizes that everything is possible.
Everything can be done, but just not in the way you think it can be done. Without the Court Jester the king probably wouldn’t have found out how to make his daughter feel better, but also the Royal Wizard, Royal Mathematician, and the Lord High Chamberlain help with the solution too. If something seemingly impossible were to happen to you, what would you do?

Mary Poppins
In this film where every nanny shall quit but one, there is the mode of romance all around. This film is to be called romantic because of the mild conflicts scattered throughout the story and the new beginning for the family that occurs at the end. Some of these include the fact that the father spends little to no time with his children or how the bank wants the children's money to make the bank richer. Also the children want to feed the birds with their tuppence. Unfortunately the father wants them to not waste there tuppence on the birds and put their money toward something useful. Mild conflicts like these can effect people in a lot of ways.
In this romantic movie there are a lot of unique and interesting characters. The main family consists of Mr. & Mrs. Banks and there two children, Jane and Michal. Both of the parents go out during the day so they need someone to watch their children while they are out. After time the nannies they hire will quit because the children want to have fun but the nannies won't let them. After time one new nanny comes that is different then the others, her name is, Marry Poppins. Marry Poppins also has a friend that lives in London, his name is Bert. He is a chimney sweep therefore he knows all of the other chimney sweeps.
Equally important to the characters are the symbols. There are lots of symbols scattered throughout the film. One is the carpet bag of Mary Poppins, and another is the letter that the children wrote. One great symbol is the bird lady and she resembles poverty and even though that some people are poor, they can still be happy. The letter that the children wrote for the advertisement was ripped up and thrown into the fireplace, but they flew up the chimney and made their way to Mary Poppins. This symbolizes the magic that Mary Poppins brings with her.
Furthermore, the one nanny that changes the family is obviously Mary Poppins. After time the father loses his job due to the children, but when he is at the bank he remembers the magical word Mary Poppins has taught the kids, Supercalifragilisticxpialidocious. This makes him forget that he is losing his job and makes him swell with happiness like a ballon being filled with air. If you could have magic like Mary Poppins, what would you do?
The Curcuit
As heartbreaking as it is, he gets a lot of disappointment too. Working on the farm is hard for this family and they get paid very little. During lunch hours, Panchito would ask for help learning English. He is really happy that the teacher would help him learn. The teacher is is best friend.
As Panchito gets more friends he realizes hies life is a bit tragic. In the beginning of the story Panchito needs to work in the fields, but he wants to go to school. As time passes he gets to go to school, but needs extra help. The fact that he is in a migrant family puts his chances of staying at school in jeopardy. Throughout the story Jimenez shows the tragic life of Panchito and how his life can be better. Then when he gets used to school and finds out he is going to learn to play the trumpet, he has to move again. It shows hard the live for Panchito and his family are.
Panchito has a difficult and heartbreaking life, but there is nothing he can do about it. Through the story we realize that our life isn't so bad. Panchito has a tragic life, but he is happy too. No matter how hard his life gets Panchito always makes it through.
The Pearl
A loving couple on the island of La Paz dive for pearls for a living. They soon find a pearl which will bring great wealth to their lives. How will they handle their new wealth? The book The Pearl by John Steinbeck explains how sudden wealth can be troublesome. The pearl brings various changes to the lives of everyone
Greed is one of these changes. Greed is something that spreads fast. Steinbeck really shows what the people did to get the pearl. They would cheat him, try to steal it and even burn his house down for it. It shows that not only is everyone else getting greedier, but Kino himself is wanting more and more from the pearl. No matter what Kino does, everyone else in the town will try to take it.
Greed isn't the only thing the pearl brings, it also has the power to deceive, to corrupt, and to destroy and these powers change everyone. Lots of the important things in Kino's life are gone because of the pearl. His house was burned down, his canoe was destroyed and his only son was killed. the pearls appearance deceives it of its value. The pearls buyers won't offer a high price because of its appearance. They also won't offer a high price because they want to cheat him out of the pearl.
As these powers take over the lives of the people, Kino's life is all but gone. His neighbors want the pearl so much they'd do anything for it. They destroyed his canoe so he couldn't escape with it. The pearl has taken over the lives of the people. It has enclosed them in greed, so they'd do anything and everything to take away Kino's life and the pearl.
The lives of everyone on the island are really changed and morphed by the pearl. The pearl mostly bought greed to the people and it impacted them greatly. What would you do if you were Kino?
