The Curcuit

Imagine living somewhere for a short period of time then having to move over and over again to search for a job and a place to live. Then when the farming season is over having to do that over and over again for your entire life. This is how Panchito lives his life. "The Circuit" by Francisco Jimenez is a story about a migrant family in Fresno California who are poor, so they move from farm to farm in search of work. Moving is hard for everyone, but for Panchito it is heartbreaking.
As heartbreaking as it is, he gets a lot of disappointment too. Working on the farm is hard for this family and they get paid very little. Jimenez shows how hard they have to work and how much they they work for how little they get. After a month or so he goes to school, but in another month he finds something he really wants and that is to play the trumpet. He is really happy, but when he gets home he has to move again.

Panchito has disappointment in his life, but he has friendship. When he is in school he is having trouble reading and understanding the book the class was reading. During lunch hours, Panchito would ask for help learning English. He is really happy that the teacher would help him learn. The teacher is is best friend.

As Panchito gets more friends he realizes hies life is a bit tragic. In the beginning of the story Panchito needs to work in the fields, but he wants to go to school. As time passes he gets to go to school, but needs extra help. The fact that he is in a migrant family puts his chances of staying at school in jeopardy. Throughout the story Jimenez shows the tragic life of Panchito and how his life can be better. Then when he gets used to school and finds out he is going to learn to play the trumpet, he has to move again. It shows hard the live for Panchito and his family are.

Panchito has a difficult and heartbreaking life, but there is nothing he can do about it. Through the story we realize that our life isn't so bad. Panchito has a tragic life, but he is happy too. No matter how hard his life gets Panchito always makes it through.
